Day 26 - Seattle: Overlook, Pike's Place & Ballard Locks

Hello everyone!
Day 26 = June 4th

Tom cooked us pancakes for breakfast, and then Cassandra and I went off to the day's adventures, which included the following:

1) An overlook at Kerry Park in the Queen Anne neighborhood (I preferred it to paying $18 to go up in the space needle) - it was a clear day and the mountain was "out" as they say in these parts when it is not obscured by clouds

2) A drive to Pike's Place Market, which went past the Seattle Art Museum's outdoor sculptures - of which this ginormous old-fashioned eraser is one:

3) Pike's Place Market - where many purchases were made - and where we had THE BEST crepes (best savory crepe I've ever had)! Street performers & etc. were also plentiful...

(this is the famous Pike's Place Fish Co. where they throw the fish!)

4) Finally we went to Ballard Locks for the afternoon, where various dams there control the water so that boats can go through the locks from a higher level of water to a lower, or salt water in Puget Sound to clear water in Lake Washington, or visa versa

...and where we laid on a blanket in the grass on a hill and observed a lot of people & dogs, and made friends with a family or two...these little girls are cousins whose dads who are now doing multicultural consulting work at the Elk River schools in MN where my niece Kayla attends!

5) Finally we came home to delicious bbq made by Tom. He is an awesome cook. Points!

This was a full & very fun day. :) Since Cassandra does Mary Kay and can make her own schedule, we had all the time in the world, much like the long summer afternoons we had as girls. :)
